Pick the Right Slat for Your Industrial Roller Shutter
The slat is the strip of metal that makes up the curtain. For this reason, the slat you pick changes how strong, warm or bright your building feels. Each type does a different job:
- Flat slats (75–100mm high): a clean, smooth face for depots and shopfronts.
- Curved slats (75–100mm high): the classic shutter look, strong and simple.
- Insulated slats (1.2–1.5mm thick, 100–120mm wide): keep heated workshops warm.
- Perforated slats (1–1.5mm thick): let light and air pass while the shutter stays down.
- Boxed laths (1.5–2mm thick, 100–130mm wide): the toughest option for high-risk sites.
- Polycarbonate slats (1–1.5mm thick): see-through, so you can check inside without opening up.
On top of that, you can pick a RAL powder coat colour, a polyester coating for rust protection, or even a wood-effect or metallic finish. That way, the door matches your company colours or the look of the street.
